Chief Economist – Bermuda

My client is a prestigious financial services company based in Bermuda. They are now looking for a Chief Economist and Senior Economist to join the team.

Key responsibilities of the roles will include:-

• Monitoring and analysis of international financial markets
• Systematic risk analysis and assessment
• Leading the macroeconomic analysis of Bermuda and international economies
• Translating economic and financial sector analysis into advice
• Leading the development of economic models, internal reports and publications.

The ideal candidate will have:-

• A master’s degree or equivalent qualification in economics or related discipline from a recognised institution or professional body. Candidates with a PhD will be given serious consideration.
• A minimum of ten (10) year’s relevant experience, of which at least five (5) years should be at a senior level managing a team in the financial services industry and/or working experience with a financial services regulator and/or research institution
• Superior knowledge of both banking and international (re)insurer’s operations
• A publication record in high-quality peer-reviewed academic journals
• A demonstrated ability to synthesise, summarise and communicate information from a variety of sources, along with the ability to manage projects to completion in a timely manner
• Strong analytical skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
• The ability to lead and provide training to various junior staff
