Tax Manager – Part Time
Rate: £100k - £110k
Location: City of London, London
Goodman Massing is looking for a Tax Manager to oversee tax compliance and strategy for FTSE listed Real Estate company. This person will ensure full compliance with UK tax laws, enhance tax efficiency, and contribute to strategic financial decision-making. A strong grasp of REIT taxation, real estate finance, and tax planning is essential. The individual will also evaluate the UK strategy within the context of a global business, collaborating with tax teams in other countries.
This position is based in the UK.
Main Responsibilities:
The role involves a wide range of responsibilities, including:
- Ensuring the timely and accurate submission of UK tax returns.
- Creating and executing strategies to reduce tax liabilities and boost the financial performance of the REIT.
- Maintaining compliance with REIT-specific rules, such as asset and income requirements, distribution mandates, and maintaining REIT status.
- Overseeing financial statement disclosures related to taxes in line with IFRS standards.
- Acting as the main contact for tax audits and inquiries from authorities, working closely with external auditors and legal teams when required.
- Offering tax-related financial insights to guide business decisions, including acquisitions, disposals, funding (internal and external), and capital projects.
- Keeping up-to-date with UK tax laws and their potential impact on the organization. Analyzing and communicating the tax effects of new business deals or investments.
- Developing and implementing procedures to ensure tax reporting is accurate and compliant.
- Communicating tax-related matters to senior leadership, the board of directors, and other key stakeholders, including ensuring proper cash flow forecasting and optimizing working capital.
- Collaborating with teams in other jurisdictions to align tax strategies across the organization.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- CTA/ACA qualification.
- At least 3 years of experience in tax compliance and strategy, with a focus on REIT taxation.
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and dedication to maintaining accuracy in tax activities.
- Proven experience in creating processes to ensure precise tax reporting.
- In-depth knowledge of UK tax laws, particularly in relation to REITs and real estate.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-experts.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- High ethical standards and integrity in handling tax matters.
- Experience in a multinational business setting is a plus.
The role is paying up to £100,000 pro rata – this is a 3 days a week role + 20% bonus. Based in Central London 2 days per week.
